This guide explains how to connect a charging station to HARMON-E using OCPP. It is written for Support and Operations teams and focuses on practical, step-by-step instructions.
ℹ️
What you will do:
- Copy the site OCPP URL from HARMON-E
- Paste it into the charger’s OCPP / Central System URL setting
- Restart the charger
- Verify that the charger is connected in HARMON-E
Before You Start
- A site exists in HARMON-E
- You have access to the charger’s local configuration interface
- You are able to restart the charger
- The charger has the required network connectivity (internet or LAN)
If the site does not exist yet, create it first: How to create a cloud site
Step 1: Copy the OCPP URL from HARMON-E
- Log in to HARMON-E
- Open the relevant site
- Open the Control Hub tab
- Copy the OCPP URL shown there
✅
Tip: Always copy the OCPP URL directly from the Control Hub. Do not modify it manually.
Step 2: Check the site type (Cloud vs GATEWAY/FLEXBOX)
The OCPP URL format depends on how the site is connected. Always use the URL shown in the Control Hub.
| Site type | Description | OCPP URL format |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud-connected site | Each charger connects directly via internet / mobile network |
wss://prod.flexecharge.com/{site-UID}
|
| GATEWAY / FLEXBOX-based site | Chargers connect via LAN to a local GATEWAY or FLEXBOX |
wss://{gateway-or-flexbox-IP-address}/{site-UID}
|
Step 3: Configure the charger
⚠️
Important: During onboarding, the HARMON-E OCPP URL temporarily replaces the charger’s
CPMS / Central System URL.
- Open the charger’s local configuration interface
- Find the OCPP / Central System URL setting
- Paste the HARMON-E OCPP URL
- Save the configuration
- Restart the charger
ℹ️
Common names for this setting:
Central System URL, CSMS URL, OCPP Server URL, Backend URL
Step 4: Verify the connection
- Open the site in HARMON-E
- Navigate to the list of chargers / charging stations
- Confirm that the charger appears as connected or online
If the charger is visible and online in HARMON-E, the OCPP connection has been established successfully.
🧰
If the charger does not connect:
- Recheck the OCPP URL in the charger configuration
- Verify network connectivity (internet or LAN)
- Ensure outbound connections are allowed by the firewall
- Restart the charger again after saving the settings
What Happens Next?
Once connected, the charger communicates through HARMON-E, which then connects onward to your CPMS:
